Milan, Italy. Richard M Trap. . . .Canada, another page

Due to the size of Canada, I have to continue on another page. Now I’ve changed the way I do my web page. The pictures are smaller then it’s faster to upload the page and you just have to click on the picture to see them full size, and more pictures on the subject. The text follows the picture, and you can go to the next picture, like a slideshow to see all the page.
We’re on the way to the Gaspesie, but the north part of the St-Laurence river, in the Charlevoix’s region, famous for its sumptuous nature, its Casino, the whales cruises and its mountain, if you want to ski. There was a little corner unknown by the tourists, Port-aux-Persils. With their breathless panorama. Here we saw the St-Laurence river at its best. The first time I went back since the tourists invaded, it was with a nice lady, and seems septic about the lost region were I bring her. This lady since a lot of moon, became my wife. By the way, Port-aux-Persils had nothing to do with that, I’m responsible of my action.

On the way to St-Jean lake.Yes, if you take the ferryboat for Tadoussac, you will be able to go back up until St-Jean lake. But I warn you in advance. You risk to meet moose on the road. My wife and I saw the belly of a moose in the window of my little Justy, I braked at the last minute, very impressive. You can not go to the St-Jean lake without going to St-Felicien's zoo. This bear waiting for you, and all the others wild animals, there, it is you who are in cage to visit the park of the nature.

Here you have a photo taken on internet of the Daniel Johnson Dam of Manic 5, a Hydroelectric dam, the 1st energy production of Quebec, we have only 2 nuclear power stations. The dam is one of the exploits of our time, who is north of Tadoussac, if you wish to go, the road is open in summer, and there are guided visits, but check before, never too careful.

On the other side of the St-Laurence river, on the south side, there’s a region call Gaspesie, as we never do thing as the others, we go there in winter, in February, we take holidays when we can. The good point is that hotels is not expensive when they’re opened for the skidoo riders. A photo of the Roche Perce in the ice, a picture we don’t see often. I take the sunrise at 5. 00 in the morning, and it was –40C with the wind in the face. I wanted to take Nathalie with the sunrise, but she stayed in the room, in the warmth. You can notice the snow banks in front of the hotel, this hotel was opened, those that was not opened, was completely covered with snow.

Here we made a big step, we are in the Laurentides, region north of Montreal. To be more precise in Mount Tremblant, another region I think with too much tourists. They developed at the bottom of the mountain, condos, theaters, bistros, bars, … The people from Montreal like those transformations, to passed a weekend with the family, it’s the perfect spot in winter. I prefer the old version with hotel and skiing quietly, but I have to admit, they did a nice job. We can believe we’re in the Alps, with the mountain and the lake.

The province of Quebec have a lot of cover bridge, in wood and still resist to the weather after all those years. Here it’s in Grand Remous, north of Mont Laurier (North of the Laurentides). This cover bridge is very interesting, for the size of it and its quality, still in good shape.

The city of Ottawa, in Ontario, is the Canada’s capital. On the Ottawa(Outaouais) river that join the St-Laurence river in Montreal. In the west part of Montreal’s Island, you can take the highway for Ottawa, and after go to Hull, Gatineau or Perkins. You have to pass in Ontario, if you want highway. On the Quebec side, there’s no highway just normal road. I love to take those road, when I go to Perkins, but not in winter. On this picture you can see the house of the Canadian Government, the interior of the library of the Government and a postal card of the Laurier’s Castle.

Cross the two rivers, to arrived in Gatineau. Every year there’s a Balloon’s Festival, for a nice colorful show. At dawn, the balloons of all types move with the wind. This picture where taken in Ottawa. We were lucky the wind was on our side this year. You have a nice sunset on a little street in Gatineau, look for the snow in the street.
