1 This view
of Montreal is nice. We can see, downtown,
Jacques-Cartier Bridge( famous guy in 1534),
St-Helen’s Island (it was built with the surplus
from the construction of the subway in the 60’s.
This is a post card. Montreal Island have a population
around 2 millions peoples. The nature is always present.
The mountain with the autumn color is the Royal Mount,
with natural trees, not like in Europe with their plant
forest. The SMOG isn’t part of Montreal life. The
car traffic begins to be a problem, but nothing compares
to Milan. |

This
view of Montreal by night is a post card, and it’s
nice. The highest building in Montreal is around 45
floors nothing compare to the US town with their 100
floors and more. Montreal by night, is one of the most
secure town in North America. You can walk from
Jacques-Cartier Bridge to Westmount, go dancing, go to
theater, shopping, see the underground city, the subway
or only take a coffee at 4h00am...

 Montreal have 3 professionals
sports teams, the Canadian(National Hockey League, NHL,
champions of the Stanley Cup 24 times. A World Record for
the number of championship by the same team), the Expos
(National Baseball League, the division’s final, is
the best that the team done) and the Alouettes (Canadian
Football League, they win a lot of championship call the
Grey Cup). The stadium you saw there is the dream of the
Expos , to have a stadium downtown, it’s not done
yet(Spring 2000). I have to admit, it’s a nice
dream. If you click on the stadium you’ll see more
detail and all the stadium of the others teams. If you
click on the team’s logo, you have a direct link to
the professional’s teams.

A small wink passing on these two chimneys which were a
part of the landscape until 1988. Attend the destruction
of one, the other one had not wanted to fall during my 6
hours wait on Saputo's roof. When they blew up the base,
the left chimney went up and fell again on its base
without falling!!!

5 This last
photo, take on Internet, do the promotion of Montreal as
a cruise destination since few years. They carried a lot
of tourists every years. Finally we can take the boat in
the direction of the Atlantic Ocean. On our way we gonna
stop at Quebec City. A marvelous fortifies city with the
taste of Europe. A little French speaking environment.
They still speak the French of Moliere of 17th century.
Like most town in the province of Quebec. But Quebec is
the most French speaking place and has the most flow of
tourists.

If
you arrive by boat in Canada, you’ll have to pass by
Quebec before arriving in Montreal. And sometime the boat
can't make it to Montreal because of the two nice
bridge.(they’re not very high). You’ll see the
white bridge, it’s the Pierre Laporte Bridge, in
honor to a depute kill in October 1970. The other one,
all green, it’s the old Quebec bridge. One of the
rare bridge in the world, that the middle keep the bridge
from going down. They’ve took three times to built
this bridge. He keeps falling every time they put the
middle. It’s was to heavy for the side, that’s
what they say. He didn’t have any official name.

7 This
is a family picture at the Quebec’s Carnival, my
brother Michel, his girlfriend Johanne, my wife Nathalie
and I in front of the Ice’s Palace. The Carnival
stand in February, allows to make several outsides
activities, sculpting on ice, crossed the St-Laurence
River in boat, to drink caribou (local drink which would
wake a dead). Also 2 parades, with body and clarion,
fantasy car, public entertainers, the Carnival Snowman,
his queen and her duchesses. During the parade of the low
city, temperature can achieve -40C, not bad!! |

Old Quebec is magnificent, with the style of the old
continents. His castle, the fortifications, his old
houses, its old restaurants, and its winter Carnival.
Nature is really on its highlight. The park of the plains
of Abraham which extend from the Castle, along the
terrace Dufrin and along the Diamond Cap. Stairs which
allow to go towards the Bass - city which is magnificent.
So a funicular, but we advises you to take the stairs to
go down, more amazing !! To go back up it can be a good
alternative.

9 You can notice the style of the houses of old Quebec.
Houses constructs in 17th century. Preserved in their
original states. Old Quebec seems to be the copy of the
city of Blois, in the Loire region, in France. Place at
the feet of the Cap Diamond, old Quebec counts several
good restaurants, a old church and several commerce. Near
the port, you can take the ferry towards Levis, to be
able to have an open view of the city, its fortress and
its castle. The suite of old Quebec, with the streets in old
pavements. The terraces from June till September,
sometime until October. The port of Quebec allows the
cruise boat to come to make stopover. When we leave old
Quebec and old ports, we can notice the central station.
The old central station was restored in the 80’s.
Now, the train and bus arrive at the same station, very
useful for transfer. If we continue eastward, we arrive
in the region of the Cote de Beaupre. |

The Cote de Beaupre, region east of the city of Quebec,
is a place very colored in autumn, especially the Mount
St-Anne. The basilica St-Anne in the region is a place of
cult in summer for Montagnais (Amerindians) and the
Catholics of everywhere in America.
St-Joachim-de-Montmorency is a little villages of 5 000
souls, one of the oldest cities of the region. With the
church from the beginning of 17th century, always in very
good shape. The picture was taken by the Orleans’s
island, a heaven corner at 10 minutes of Quebec city. I
lived in the region about 4 year, just at feet of the
mountain. If you look for the tranquility, it is the
region, after Perkins...

Here is
the view, in April when I leave in the morning from
Beaupre, when I took the road to go to work, not bad. The
Subaru Justy 4 X 4, was welcome in this region. I have
made 165 000 km in 3 years, with this 3 cylinders ECVT.
